Tuscan Villa, Prato

Giulia has arranged for us to stay in a B&B that a family runs out of their real-life Tuscan Villa in Prato. Villa Rucellai is a fairy-tale setting and I can barely believe my eyes! A castle in the hills where the sun is always shining on olive and lemon trees, where day dreams and ceilings reach the skies, where fountains bubble and birds sing through the fresh mountain breezes. You see? Such a place can at best renew any weary spirit, and at worse create a poet!

At the villa they make their own wine, olive oil and fruit preserves. The wine was available for €3.00 per bottle, so we availed ourselves of a couple bottles while sitting out on a veranda overlooking the private estate garden and the surrounding olive groves. It was during these couple days that we enjoyed sleeping in, quiet breakfasts, lazy reading and several scenic outings with Giulia.
