Pisa
One fine afternoon, we decided to jump on a train for an afternoon trip out to Pisa. The train ride was about 1.5 hours from Florence, but quite cheap at about 11 Euro return per person. We thought it was necessary to take the obligatory “Leaning Tower” type photos, and 1/2 the fun was watching all of the crazy tourists madly snapping their photos and holding their hands in funny positions in the air – a group of tourists that we quickly joined ourselves.
It was a gorgeous sunny day, and we found a nice shady spot on the grass to nap and read our books for a while before grabbing a gelato and heading back to Florence on the train. In our walking around, I don’t think either of us felt that Pisa was worth more than an afternoon trip; I can’t really see any reason why you’d spend the night here as far as sights or things to see or do. Nonetheless, we were very glad to have made an afternoon trip out of it, and now at least, we have extremely geeky photos of ourselves as eternal mementos.
