Sojourn a journey through life

Bali, Indonesia: Nusa Lembongan

From a short hike we took, you can see the view of where we were staying.

The Girls Dorm :)

Dan is unwinding... (but is he ever wound?)

The cultivation of seaweed is the main source of income for locals. Second is tourism. Growth of seaweed (rumput laut) off these shores is so quick that a new harvest is ready every 45 days.

The seaweed is spread out on mats to dry in the sun before eventual export to Europe, Japan and Hong Kong. Its main use is for carrageen, an emulsifying and gelling agent in processed foods and cosmetics. Um...yummy!

These boats in the evenings were heading out to harvest new crops of seaweed. A beautiful site after sunset as each boat quiety slipped from shore with only a latern.

Seen at a temple on our drive from Sanur (after Nusa Lembongan) to Tirta Gangga.
